What is The Well Hub?
It’s so easy to look around the world today and become overwhelmed by what we see - crisis in Ukraine, human trafficking, poverty, and so much more - all while simultaneously dealing with a global pandemic that changed the world as we knew it.
And yet in the midst of these challenges, I see so much hope when I look to my colleagues doing incredible work to bring hope to those who need it most. In the past month alone, that perspective has included meeting with colleagues coordinating UN programs to deliver humanitarian assistance in Haiti; providing trauma and psychosocial support to refugees fleeing from Syria; coordinating cash assistance programs on the Colombian border with Venezuela; and convening women, youth and religious leaders to support peace-building and conflict resolution.
As complex are these challenges are, there are also proven solutions to these issues that we can draw from as we look to learn from the best practices of those operating in other global contexts. My greatest passion is to convene leaders together to have even greater impact around the world and in their local communities, and I created The Well Hub to do just that.
Leadership development has always been an important part of my professional work. It all started several years ago when I started teaching my own course on international law to train young students to work in human rights advocacy. Years later, I moved to Washington D.C. to start a career in global human rights and democracy work, including managing a network of over 400 organizations in 75 countries and traveling around the world to help leaders develop action plans to address issues in their own communities. We offered Leadership Academies covering all of the basics of non-profit management, from strategic planning to advocacy to social media usage, and to this day one of my greatest joys has been following along with their work in Myanmar, South Africa, Ukraine, and beyond. Since then, I’ve held a number of roles, from working in social entrepreneurship to ministry and social impact advising for large corporations. The greatest blessing in all of it has been learning from peers who are changing the world for the better, and I can’t wait to bring those lessons to the Hub to help you amplify the work you’re doing with your organization.
Let me leave you on a note of encouragement: Whether you work in social entrepreneurship, anti-trafficking, foster care, counseling, or simply want to support those who do, we each hold a piece of the puzzle and can have a hand in supporting what God is doing around the world to bring peace and redemption. As Jesus said:
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God” (Matthew 5:9, NIV)
The time for the church to address these issues is as important as ever. In light of the brokenness, loneliness, anxiety and depression that we see around us, we have a special hope to bring to those looking for encouragement. Paired with practical resources and industry expertise from those serving on the front lines around the world, I truly believe we can make a lasting impact that will last for generations to come.
